I packed everything last night so I went to sleep pretty late. I had initially planned to arrive to Harvard as early as possible in order to do everything I had to, and still have time to check out extracurricular activities; but, obviously, I was very tired and I decided not to hurry so much.
After all that, I got to Harvard at around 10 something a.m. I picked up my room key and left my bags in my room. I have 3 roommates (a lot!) I meet one of them when I left my bags in the room.
My room has 3 small rooms; 2 singles and one double, a bathroom, and a common area. I am in the double room (we have a bunk bed) and my desk is in the common area.
I'll post the pictures later because my phone hasn't synchronised them...
Well...I haven't been able to write anymore down. I have so much stuff to do all the time; it's incredible that I aways have something to do. Anyway, I'll try to narrate how has been my experience so far at Harvard (Just to keep in mind, I am writing this June 26, oppss).
For some weird technological reason that I seem not to understand, my phone and my computer haven't synchronised any pictures yet, so I guess I will add the pictures once it works again. For now, I'll just tell what I've been doing these days.
The first day was a pretty busy day because I had a list of things to do. That list is called your 'H-Ticket,' and you have to have to have it with you all the time during your first day. Firstly, I picked up my room key (which I already told you), then I had to go for an 'International Student Check-In' which was basically a really long line where they gave one a paper to fill the basic information, and then one needs to show them one's passport. After that, I picked up my Harvard Summer School ID Card, which is really cool because makes everything seem more official. Then I went to the disabilities center to ask about my request for an air conditioner and lastly, I had to do a long and extremely slow line to get a vaccine I was missing. That was for my Immunization Status and it was, by far, the most boring and time consuming activity of the day.
When I was going back outside after getting my shot (and dying of hunger), I meet a nice college boy in the elevator who was also taking classes during summer. He asked me to get lunch with him but, sadly, I had to turn down his invitation because my parents were waiting for me.
I picked up some essential things I rented from the Student Services and then I went to have lunch in a Chinese restaurant with my parents.
(I'll insert food pictures here later...)
Feeling satisfied and happy, we decided to make one last 'trip' to the mall so I could get a Doctor Who jacket I totally loved (I bought it at Newbury Comics, it is an amazing store!). For some reason, I got a terrible headache so I also bought some pills for that.
We came to Harvard again, and my parents left.
